Carlo is an engineer and investment professional with over four decades of experience in the industrial and healthcare sectors. He acts as a General Partner of our Primo Health fund, supporting the growth of Italian small and medium enterprises active in the healthcare sector.
He began his career in process and project engineering at Snia BPD, eventually leading one of the group’s business units. Following four years at McKinsey managing industrial projects in chemicals and pharmaceuticals, he returned to the Snia group to lead Corporate Development. Over the next fifteen years, he directed the group's strategic pivot from chemicals and fibers toward the medical device industry through the development of Sorin Biomedica. In this capacity, he executed a series of international acquisitions across the US and Europe, establishing Sorin as a global leader in cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology. During his tenure, he served as CEO of Sorin Inc. in the United States and managed the divestment and subsequent repurchase of the Diagnostics business unit. This entity was later listed on the Italian Stock Exchange as DiaSorin, which now maintains a significant market capitalization within the healthcare sector. In 2007, he co-founded Medeor Associates, an M&A boutique dedicated to the healthcare industry.
His extensive background in corporate transformation and international clinical markets now informs the investment strategy of Primo Health.
He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano.
